Glagola Awarded Lions Scholarship

The Middletown Lions Club chose Zachary Glagola as the recipient of a $2000 scholarship. Zachary plans to work toward a degree in chemistry and mathematics at Carnegie Mellon University. He will graduate from Middletown High School in June.

He is an APEX scholar, a member of the National English Honor Society, is a Maryland Distinguished Scholar, member of the National Honor Society, and received an Award of Excellence in the Statewide Mock Trial Competition. He officiated at youth lacrosse games and is a member of the Varsity Lacrosse Team and the Cross Country and Indoor Track Teams.

Zachary has been an outstanding Junior Volunteer at Frederick Memorial Healthcare System since December 2007 completing over 290 hours of service as Wings volunteer in the Pathology Lab and in the training of new volunteers. He will receive the President's Volunteer Service Award for completing over 175 hours of service in a 12 month period.
